Kingfisher launches fast two-way optical loss tester

29 January 2003 -- Kingfisher International, Melbourne, Australia, has launched what it claims is the industry's fastest and easiest to use, two-way loss test set.

The KI 7300/KI 7700 series lost test set with optional optical return loss, displays the average multi-wavelength link loss in real-time on both instruments.

Real-time loss or ORL display on both instruments provides simpler cable certification and rectification minimising training and operational procedures. The handheld instrument, with sufficient memory for dual wavelength tests, can save operators testing time when dealing with high fibre counts, Kingfisher says.

Basic measurements are simpler to make than with a source or meter, making this unit suitable for less skilled operators, and for restoration applications.

The ORL zero function and user calibration mode compensate for residual reflections and stray losses in test set up respectively, extending measurement range with improved linearity and accuracy. Autotest is available on both Test and Meter ports and compatible with other autotest instruments.
