Multiplex Inc. announced at OFC/NFOEC earlier this month unveiled transmit optical subassemblies (TOSAs) for serial 40-Gbps data transmission based on the company’s electro-absorption modulated laser (EML) technology.

The Multiplex 40-Gbps TOSA laser packages are available at 1310 nm and 1550 nm. The TOSAs can achieve 40-km link budgets at 1310 nm and DWDM in the 1550nm wavelength window.

Multiplex says it will make the TOSAs available in sample quantities in the second half of this year.
