SANTEC WaveProcessor Arrays offer sub-gigahertz resolution

SANTEC Corp. has introduced high resolution WaveProcessor Arrays (WPA) based on liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) technology.

SANTEC Corp. has introduced high resolution WaveProcessor Arrays (WPAs) based on liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) technology. The WPAs are available as component models (including the WPA-8, WPA-12, and WPA-44) and a test instrument model (WPA-900).

The arrays feature sub-gigahertz frequency resolution via a newly invented LCOS moving weighted technique that SANTEC calls PAT-P. The high resolution will help maximize the spectral efficiency in next generation flexible-grid reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) designs, SANTEC asserts.

“SANTEC’s WPA family has many advantages for next generation OTN,” asserted Dr. Noboru Uehara, department manager of R&D of SANTEC. “We are extremely pleased with the advantages of LCoS technology in our WPA platform, which provides software-oriented flexible and intelligent solutions for our customers.”

The WPA products will be showcased at OFC/NFOEC in Los Angeles, March 8-10, in SANTEC’s booth #1919.
