Gigalight launches 120-km DWDM/TDM XFP module

Gigalight has added a 120-km DWDM/TDM XFP Module to its portfolio of 10-Gbps long distance products. The new XFP leverages electronic dispersion compensation (EDC) technology to provide dispersion tolerance up to 2400 ps/nm. The module thus supports a transmission distance of up to 120 km at 10 Gbps without additional dispersion compensating fiber, states Gigalight.

Advantages of the XFP include low power (<3.5 W), small size, and low cost, asserts Gigalight. The XFP can be used in applications calling for conformance with a variety of standards, including:

  • 10GBase-ZX; IEEE 802.3ae (9.953 - 10.312 Gbps)
  • 10G Fibre Channel(10.518 - 11.318 Gbps)
  • SDH STM-64 ITU-T G.691
  • SONET OC-192; GR253-core(9.953 Gbps)
  • SDH/OTU2 ITU-T G.709
  • SONET OC-192 with FEC(10.709 Gbps)
