The Federal Communications Commission is permitting Southern New England Telephone, New Haven, CT, to expand its current trial of video dial-tone service. The trial area of 1250 homes in West Hartford offers video dial-tone services, including video-on-demand, traditional and premium channels, time-shifted news and time-shifted TV programming. The trial will expand to 150,000 homes in Hartford and Fairfield Counties. It will offer movies that have been digitized, stored in a computer and then delivered on demand to customers` television sets. Future services will include home shopping, education and health care. The expanded trial will begin offering services in early 1995.
