AUGUST 18, 2009 -- Metro optical access technology provider Sorrento Networks (search Lightwave for Sorrento Networks) has named NBS as its global manufacturing partner. NBS, an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider headquartered in Northern California, will now provide configure-to-order (CTO) services including final assembly, test, order fulfillment, and return materials authorization (RMA) functions for Sorrento's GigaMux product line.

Founded in 1999 as a PCB layout specialist, NBS delivers leading-edge services in design engineering, manufacturing, and test and verification to a diverse customer base serving all industry segments and geographies. The company's acquisition in 2009 of CompServ has since enabled it to expand its services to include advanced supply chain logistics, custom products sourcing, and an array of test services.

"We are very pleased to welcome Sorrento Networks into the NBS fold," says Michael Maslana, president and chief executive officer of NBS. "This partnership further diversifies our already large customer base, while expanding our service offerings. It also provides us the impetus to acquire a second manufacturing facility adding an additional 10,000 square feet to our existing 40,000. We are continuing to evolve our business model, and in so doing, the future of EMS."

"We have teamed up with NBS in order to continue to focus our resources on core competencies and better serve our global customer base," says Sorrento Networks' chief executive officer Jim Nevelle. "NBS will lend its manufacturing expertise to help alleviate resources so we can devote more of our time to research and development and sales efforts that are directly aligned with our customers' needs."
