JANUARY 20, 2009 Photop Technologies Inc. (search for Photop) has introduced its etalon series products, highlighted by solid-silicon etalons -- the latest addition to its micro-optics offerings. Etalons can be used as precise wavelength references in telecommunication applications where the periodicity of the signal provides an array of reference frequencies for the telecommunication frequency grid.
Photop's Etalon series includes temperature-sensitive solid-Silicon etalon, air-space etalon, solid etalon, high-precision ITU grid air-space etalon, high-precision ITU grid solid etalon, and multiple cavity etalon.
Photop now becomes a one-stop source for all kinds of etalons with various sizes, shapes, and custom specs that are made with a variety of photonic materials. Solid-silicon Etalons are often used as tunable dispersion compensators and optical frequency discriminators. Air-space etalons, which feature low wavefront distortion, low insertion loss, easy tuning etc., are widely applied in optical communications, test and measurement instruments, etc.
The etalons are ideal for WDM networks, tunable filter, wavelength locker, dispersion compensation, laser cavity, and interleaver applications, according to the company.
Photop will demonstrate its etalon series at the FOE (Booth #1-12), Tokyo Big Sight, Japan, January 21-23 and the Photonics West (Booth #1715), San Jose, January 2729.
