NOVEMBER 25, 2009 -- Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the DS1842, a 76-V APD bias output stage and current-monitoring IC in a 3x3-mm TDFN package.

Designed using Maxim's BiCMOS process, this device integrates a 76-V current source and dual current mirrors for monitoring APD current. It also includes a FET switch that is configured to work in conjunction with an external DC-DC controller to implement a DC-DC boost converter. Maxim says the DS1842 is well suited for APD biasing and current monitoring in GPON ONUs and OLTs.

The DS1842 is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range. Pricing begins at $0.90 (1000-up, FOB USA).
