OCTOBER 19, 2009 -- Mintera Corp. and Nokia Siemens Networks have revealed that Nokia Siemens Network’s updated hiT 7300 transport product now incorporates Mintera’s MI 4000XM Adaptive-DPSK module, which is in full deployment supporting 40-Gbps services.

The first announced customer is Columbus Networks, a deployment Nokia Siemens Networks revealed this past March.

“Nokia Siemens Network’s 40G DWDM solution hiT 7300 is equipped with Mintera’s MI 4000XM DWDM line module. It is a very reliable component enabling simple upgrading of high-capacity DWDM systems to 40-Gbps line speed. The competence of Mintera shows in excellent engineering and understanding our needs,” said Uwe Fischer, head of Nokia Siemens Networks’ DWDM business line.

“Mintera greatly values the opportunity of working with Nokia Siemens Networks as a lead customer,” said Mintera President and CEO Terry Unter. “The commercial deployment of our combined products demonstrates the strength of performance and quality of Mintera’s MI 4000XM. This milestone underscores our commitment to deliver best-in-class solutions to our customers with Adaptive-DPSK providing the most cost-effective, longest reach solution suitable for the majority of 40-Gbps applications worldwide.”

Mintera’s patent-pending Adaptive-DPSK technology enables 40-Gbps transport on 50-GHz channel-spaced systems and transmission over agile ROADM networks without compromising critical ULH reach, according to the company. The unit conforms to the industry standard footprint and incorporates an electrical mux/demux for compatibility with any 40-Gbps framer. The module has a 300-pin MSA connector with support for the appropriate I2C commands, thus enabling simple hardware and software integration.

“This is just the first of many 40 Gbps network deployments for the hiT 7300 using Mintera’s MI 4000XM, with substantial Adaptive-DPSK deployment volumes expected for the next several years,” Fischer continued.
