VI Systems offers 850-nm photodetector modules for up to 40G

JULY 8, 2009 -- VI Systems GmbH (search Lightwave for VI Systems) has introduced a fiber-coupled photodetector module, the D30-850M, for short-reach system test of high-speed data communication applications of up to 40 Gbps.
The photodetector module covers an operating wavelength range from 700 to 890 nm. The module offers a high frequency electrical output connector and is assembled with a 50/125-micron multimode fiber that is terminated with a standard optical connector for the input. The responsivity of the module at 850 nm is specified with greater than 0.4 A/W. An optional external DC bias-T is available.
VI Systems developed the photodetector receiver device to match its high-speed transmitter products, which are designed to offer a test system for ultra-high-speed very short reach optical interconnects at data rates of 25 Gbps and 40 Gbps.
The D30-850M module features a footprint of 35x17 mm with a height of 8 mm. The fiber pigtail is specified with 1-m length. The fiber is connectorized with a standard FC/PC connector. Other connector types are available upon request.
