April 4, 2006 Acworth, GA -- Fiber-optic consulting and training firm Pearson Technologies Inc. announced that its fiber-optic installation manual, Successful Fiber Optic Installation, has been approved by the Fiber Optic Association's (FOA) board of directors for use in training for the three FOA professional level certifications.
Pearson says the manual defines "levels of experience" and contains the "subtle knowledge" required to pass the FOA's professional level Certified Fiber Optic Specialist (CFOS) certification examinations. Professional levels of the training program include Pearson's FiberPro 2 (CFOS in connector installation), FiberPro 3 (CFOS in testing), and FiberPro 4 (CFOS in splicing) certifications.
The manual also contains the knowledge required to pass the Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) examination, the FOA's basic certification. Further, according to Pearson, part 3 of the manual includes "cookbook-like" installation procedures that can be used as installation instructions during "hands-on" training for the specialist certifications, as well as a guide for actual field installations.
