Centellax releases small 40G DPSK 8-V modulator driver

Aug. 20, 2010
AUGUST 20, 2010 -- Centellax Inc. has released the OA4MVM4 44G modulator driver amplifier to production. The OA4MVM4 is designed to be used in 40G differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) telecom transponders for long-haul optical links. It is the smallest modulator driver available in the market capable of driving a 7-V single ended Mach-Zehnder modulator, Centellax asserts.

The OA4MVM4 is the newest addition to the family of modulator drivers Centellax offers to satisfy customer requirements for compact size, large voltage output, and excellent performance.

Key features of the OA4MVM4 Centellax identified include:

  • smallest form factor available (approximately 1.156x0.99 inches)
  • large voltage output for DPSK applications
  • broad bandwidth over 44.6 Gbps
  • excellent rise time and jitter performance

"The design and development for this high-performance 40G DPSK modulator driver allows our customers to design smaller transponders that can reduce the cost of adding capacity to their fiber-optic transport system," stated Jeff Meyer, strategic product manager at Centellax. "The OA4MVM4 high performance and small form factor design enables our customers to meet their new requirements for 40G telecom transponders."

The Centellax OA4MVM4 is hermetic and compliant with Telcordia Standards GR-357. Production samples are available immediately.
