MACOM 25-Gbps etched facet lasers reach production
MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. says its family of 25-Gbps lasers have reached production. The lasers are expected to support optical transmission requirements in data center, mobile infrastructure, and fiber to the home (FTTH) applications, including those that involve CWDM or DWDM transmission.
For example, the 127/129/131/133D-25G-LCT11 and 1295/1300/1304/1309-25B-LCT11-S families apply to CWDM and LAN-WDM data center applications, respectively. These include 4x25-Gbps for 100 Gigabit Ethernet requirements. The lasers leverage MACOM's Etched Facet Technology (EFT, which the company gained when it acquired BinOptics) that, in combination with MACOM's in-house wafer-scale indium phosphide manufacturing, will enable the same cost reductions to data center transmission as it has to FTTH PON, MACOM asserts.
Speaking of FTTH, the 131D-25I-LT5TC family of TO packaged 25-Gbps lasers target 5G-LTE and 100G PON applications.
MACOM also offers the MAOM-2304 driver to pair with the new lasers.
