Hermetic modulators

These hermetic modulators have been tested against the demands of Bellcore specification tr-nwt-00468. Available at 2.5 Gbits/sec, achieving up to 19-dB extinction ratio for a pseudo-random binary sequence stimulus, the devices have zero chirp and are capable of 0- to 1000-km links. For wdm applications, a built-in attenuator provides up to 20-dB per-channel gain control without compromising external laser reliability or wavelength stability, according to the manufacturer. The hermetic packaging is combined with titanium indiffusion waveguide technology.
