MoSys offers LineSpeed low-power 100G full-duplex retimer IC for SFF modules, line cards

Communications semiconductor supplier MoSys (NASDAQ: MOSY) has debuted the MSH110 LineSpeed 100G Low Power Retimer. The company has aimed the full-duplex quad retimer integrated circuit (IC) at small form factor optical transceivers as well as 100G line cards.

The device fits within the design constraints of such advanced optical modules as the CFP2, CFP4, and QSFP28, dissipating 700 mW and fulfilling clock data recovery (CDR) requirements via a single chip. The LineSpeed 100G retimer also provides self-adapting receive equalization for ease of connection and signal integrity for up to 20 dB of insertion loss.

The 8x8-mm FCCSP retimer also features reference-free operation, integrated system and line side loopbacks, and on-chip PRBS generation, error checking, eye monitor, and diagnostic capabilities using the MoSys IC Spotlight Analyzer.

The MSH110 IC supports IEEE 802.3ba and OIF CEI-3.0 electrical standards. The device supports Ethernet and Optical Transport Network (OTN) baud rates ranging from 24 to 28 Gbps and includes adaptive equalization to support applications ranging from CEI-28G-VSR to CEI-28G-MR (up to 20 dB insertion loss). The device has eight independent channels, each consisting of a receiver connected to a corresponding transmitter. Data can be input and output on all eight channels simultaneously.

"In the productization of 100G module and line card solutions for systems ranging from hundreds of gigabits to terabits per second, challenges in power, ease of connectivity, signal integrity, testability, economics, and footprint must be met in order to enable mass deployment," stated John Monson, vice president of sales and marketing at MoSys. "The LineSpeed 100G Ultra Low Power retimer leverages CMOS technology to address these challenges with the industry’s lowest power consumption and highest integration, self-adapting receive equalization for quick connection and robust operation, and extensive self-test and loopback features for system testability."

The MSH110 LineSpeed 100G Low Power Retimer is sampling to early technology partners.
