Mindspeed offers GPON, XG-PON1 burst-mode transimpedance amplifiers
Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD) has added a pair of new devices to its burst-mode transimpedance amplifier (TIA) family for optical line termination (OLT) equipment. The M02036 is a 1.25-Gbps TIA for GPON applications and the M02035 is a 2.5-Gbps TIA for XG-PON1 applications.
The burst-mode TIAs offer optical sensitivity of -33 dBm for the M02036 GPON OLT TIA and -29 dBm for the M02035 XG-PON1 OLT TIA. Both TIAs feature a dynamic range of greater than 25 dB and fast output settling times, Mindspeed asserts. Both TIA outputs can be used in either single-ended or differential configurations.
The devices also feature a burst mode average power monitor output that enables receivers to report upstream optical network unit (ONU) optical transmit power. This eliminates the need for the external circuitry previously required to perform this function.
Both TIAs are in volume production.
"CyOptics has been a long-time collaborator with Mindspeed on next-generation optical networking solutions, and we are pleased to be working with Mindspeed's latest burst-mode TIA solutions," said Kou-Wei Wang, vice president and general manager for OEM Business at CyOptics. "The combination of Mindspeed's innovation in burst-mode TIAs and laser driver technology, and our proven track record in monolithic and hybrid optical subassembly integration, has enabled us to offer one of the industry's highest-performance and cost-effective solutions for FTTx deployment."
