ADC Telecommunications Inc., Minneapolis, has combined its Access Platforms System Division and ADC Video Systems subsidiary to create the Broadband Communications Division. The new unit encompasses the Homeworx hybrid fiber/coaxial-cable (HFC) network system; the DV6000 digital-transmission system; and network management products for all Homeworx and DV6000 elements.

ADC has also signed an agreement with Nanjing Panda Electronics Co. Ltd. to form the first joint venture in China to provide HFC technology for delivery of telephony and data services. Known as Nanjing ADC Broadband Communications Co. Ltd., the joint-venture company will market ADC`s Homeworx platform throughout the country. The venture will target the platform`s telephony and data subsystems at organizations such as the China Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications; China Unicom; the Ministry of Radio, Film and TV; as well as provincial telephone authorities and cable-TV operators.
