Delta Networks’ Consortium for On Board Optics (COBO) proof of concept (POC) 12.8-Tbps switch is for evaluating the tradeoffs and changes associated with moving optics away from the faceplate. It features different optical module form factors (OSFP, QSFP-DD, COBO x8, and COBO x16) and different connectors in an all-in-one platform designed for testing different operational impacts at once.

Judge’s comment: “This appears to have been quite useful for at least one network operator in terms of evaluating onboard optics.”
