ProLabs now offers standards-compliant QSFP-DD ZR and Open ZR+ 400G pluggable optical transceivers. The optical modules reduce cost and deployment complexity in data center interconnect (DCI) applications, according to the company.
Cloud data center operators can link routers and other high-speed packet transmission equipment in 400G point-to-point applications of up to 120 km via the QSFP-DD ZR or 100G to 400G beyond 500 km via the QSFP-DD Open ZR+ module with amplification, ProLabs says. The modules plug directly into the routers, obviating the need for and expense of optical transponders.
"Simplifying 400G DCI infrastructure requirements is a key milestone for cloud data centers and service providers moving to cutting-edge data rates," said Ray Hagen, product manager at ProLabs. "QSFP-DD ZR and Open ZR+ coherent solutions improve port economy by offering high network density with low power consumption, paving the way for simplified adoption of 400G data rates."
