Bidirectional optical module with waveguide
A bidirectional, four-channel optical parallel transceiver utilizing a new 3D polymer optical waveguide has an optical integration platform that simplifies the device’s structure and assembly. The low-cost, upgradeable transceiver features a copper electrical connector for data transmission up to 300 m at 3.125 Gbits/sec (10GBase-CX4) and up to 100 m at 5 Gbits/sec (InfiniBand DDR) over standard multimode ribbon fiber with 850-nm wavelength. It is targeted for VSR applications including within and between racks, shelves, and optical networking equipment boards in central offices and large enterprises.
Hermetic photodiodes are designed to meet the rigid Telcordia damp heat requirements on the bare-die level. Such photodiodes allow receiver manufacturers to work with nonhermetic modules, which reduces packaging costs. Currently, the in-house hermeticity technology allows operation of bare-die photodiodes in an 85°C, 85% r.H. environment for at least 1,000 hours. An extension toward 2,000 hours is currently under development and is due to be released later in 2007.
The second generation of the Compact CWDM Mux and Demux module now features not only the smallest footprint for a CWDM product, but also the lowest insertion loss-as low as 1 dB for an eight-channel module. The module has simplified fiber routing that allows all fiber to come from the same side of the device. The free-space optical layout in the design ensures a rugged product with high performance across the extended temperature ranges required in today’s deployments.

The S4882 and S4886 continuous-rate transceiver and clock and data recovery (CDR) devices operate from 10 Mbits/sec to 4.25 Gbits/sec. Only a single reference clock is required for the entire operating range. Customers can choose from a 4-, 8-, or 10-bit-wide interface for the transceiver. The transceiver features 10-mV input sensitivity on the Rx side and a de-emphasis option for high-speed Tx signals to compensate for FR-4 losses.
Eagle is a triple-speed, multiport Ethernet media access controller (MAC) with multiprotocol classification, oversubscription, and rate policing support with embedded SerDes. The Eagle family consists of two devices, Eagle-24 (A2520) and Eagle-12(A2521), targeted for Ethernet switches, routers, Internet appliances, and access devices in enterprise and metro applications. The MACs support industry-standard SerDes/SGMII interfaces on the line side and an SPI-4.2 interface on the system side.
Mini-Coaxial photodiodes are now available in fiber-pigtailed, 2.5-mm TO packages. Active areas from 30- to 500-µm diameters can be accommodated. Single-pin (anode case) and two-pin configurations are offered. The devices are also available in lensed or flat-window TO packages.
Tunable optical dispersion compensator (TODC) modules are based on planar lightwave circuit construction and are designed to meet the transmission and dispersion bandwidth requirements for 10- and 40-Gbit systems. The targeted dispersion compensation range is ±2,100 psec/nm for 10 Gbits and ±500 psec/nm for 40 Gbits. The TODC features low insertion loss, small polarization effects, and a rugged, compact housing with no moving parts. The modules include internal temperature controllers and an RS-232 communication interface.
A ruggedized splitter addresses environmental and human handling issues, providing fiber protection, management, and maintenance in an OSP environment, especially in FTTX deployments. The “One-Touch-Turn-Up” design reduces the risk of fiber damage. The splitter features high flexibility in temperatures ranging from -55° to +85°C and will not sag or wilt during temperature cycles. It supports one 1×32, two 1×16, or four 1×8 configurations without penalty in real estate or port counts.

The AFCT-5745 and AFCT-594x series of OC-48 SFP transceivers are part of the METRAK family of metro/SONET products. A new family of 4-Gbit/sec lasers from NEC Electronics Compound Semiconductor Devices Division (CSDD) are fabricated using Al oxidation-free all-selective metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy without semiconductor etching. Originally developed for CSDD’s 10-Gbit/sec 1,310-nm lasers, the process provides low threshold and operating current and high performance over temperature (-30° to +85°C). Two 4-Gbit versions are available, the NX6311EH distributed feedback (DFB) model and the NX5320EH Fabry-Perot laser.

CIP is releasing a preliminary datasheet for its 100G-HS-PIN, a photodiode designed for operation in the 75-to-110-GHz frequency band, which is claimed to be the fastest commercial photodiode. It is available in a 1-mm connectorized module or in bare die form. Applications include millimeter-wave radio over fiber, instrumentation, and high-speed clock recovery. A broadband package for 100 Gbits/sec is under development.
Sumitomo/ExceLight has developed a new transceiver compliant to the 10GBase-LRM (Long Reach Multimode) standard and SFP+ multisource agreement (MSA). This design utilizes a newly developed TOSA that integrates a 1,310-nm Fabry-Perot laser diode along with a low-power-dissipation laser diode driver to achieve less than 1-W power dissipation. The transceiver significantly increases optical port density of network equipment. SFP+ transceivers for 10GBase-SR and 10GBase-LR applications are also in development.
The GPON optical line terminal (OLT) transceiver supports asymmetry and data rates of 2.488 Gbits/sec downstream and 1.244 Gbits/sec upstream with SFF and SFP, working at 1,490-nm and 1,310-nm wavelengths, respectively. The transceiver includes fast receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) capability to help operators read the optical signal strength of each ONT. With this mechanism, operators can lower their operational expenditures by monitoring the real-time status of the optical distribution network (ODN).
IsoSphere antireflection (AR)-coated ball lenses for fiber-optics coupling are available in a variety of glass indexes and new larger sizes. Featuring very low insertion loss, the ball lenses are available with antireflection coatings with transmission values greater than 99.5% in indexes up to nd 2.0 @ 550 nm. The durable, scratch-resistant AR-coated ball lenses are now offered in sizes from 200 µm to 10 mm in diameter.
Two optical transceivers will be released for OLTs in GPON systems in SFP and SFF formats at the end of April. These products tolerate wide variations in the received burst optical power, operate in temperature ranges from -40° to +85°C, and are approximately 20% smaller than existing optical transceivers. These improvements enable GPON deployments to support more than the typical 32 subscribers per port and at longer distances than 20 km.
The G10447-14 and G10447-54 are high-speed ROSA-package optical receivers that support 10-Gbit/sec data transfer in optical fiber communications at 830 to 870 nm. Key features include high sensitivity (minimum receivable sensitivity of -13.5 dBm), high transimpedance gain of 6 kΩ, and a large 60-µm diameter for connection to multimode optical fibers. Both parts have 1.25-mm sleeve connectors, with either an SC (G10447-14) or LC receptacle (G10447-54). The receivers require only a 3.3-V power supply.
A series of DWDM multiplexing and demultiplexing modules is based on SiO2/Si planar technology and a unique athermal packaging design requiring no electrical power, software, or temperature control for a completely passive DWDM offering. Gaussian athermal arrayed waveguides (AWGs) are ready for delivery in high volumes; they are suitable as drop-side AWGs in ROADMs and are also used for WDM-PON applications.
Anti-wiggle SC and LC receptacles are designed for 10GBase-LRM TOSAs. The patented stepped split sleeve provides improved performance of LC receptacles against “wiggle” and is now being applied to SC receptacles for LRM TOSAs. Optical isolators can also be integrated into the receptacles for long-reach and enhanced long-reach applications.

Customized fiber-collimating microlens arrays can be optimized for specific element dimensions, alignment marks, pitch, focal length, and throw distance; AuSn soldering pads are optional. The arrays feature low roughness and loss, 100% inspection capability, and high focal-length uniformity. The Telcordia-compliant arrays minimize scattering loss for applications such as multichannel communications devices, DWDM multiplexers and demultiplexers, OADMs, optical amplifiers, VOAs, optical isolators, and waveguide-fiber coupling.
A small, lightweight, multipurpose polarimeter offers high-performance features such as fast response, low excess loss, small condition numbers, and low temperature/wavelength dependence. It can be used in state- and degree-of-polarization (SOP/DOP) measurement and monitoring; polarization control and management (tracking, stabilization); 40-Gbit/sec network PMD compensation; polarization multiplexing/demultiplexing; fiber sensing; and more. Three models are available: inline, inline with control and display, and inline without control or display.
The Mini-DIL pump LU0977M200 offers 200-mW operating power at a lower cost and in a reduced form factor compared to conventional pump packages. The module uses a small Mini-DIL package platform to operate over a temperature range of 0° to 70°C and is maintained by fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technology. The pump enables a significant reduction in the size and power consumption of EDFAs used in metro and long-haul optical systems. Reliability according to Telcordia GR-468-CORE has been achieved.
The XPD-MR-D12-xxCDA is a multirate DWDM XFP transceiver that achieves 120 km (2,400 psec/nm dispersion tolerance) with the use of integrated electronic dispersion compensation (EDC). The module is fully compliant to version 4.5 of the XFP MSA, consumes less than 3.5 W, and is fully RoHS compliant. The multirate transceiver operates from 9.95 to 11.1 Gbits/sec and is compliant with SONET/SDH, 10-Gigabit Ethernet, 10-Gigabit Fibre Channel, and G.707 OTN standards.
The PC 414 low-index polymer cladding product has a numerical aperture (NA) of 0.34, midway between that of PC 400 and PC 430, and is softer than PC 430. Manufacturers of hard-clad silica fiber can now offer a fiber with a significantly larger NA (and lower modulus) than PC 430-at the same price.
The XFP SR transceiver is a multipurpose optical transceiver module for 10-Gbit/sec data transmission applications at 850 nm. It is ideally suited for 10-Gigabit Ethernet datacom and storage area network applications based on the IEEE 802.3ae and Fibre Channel standards. The hot-pluggable module with LC duplex connector is fully compliant to the XFP MSA Rev. 4.5. It operates within a temperature range of 0° to 70°C and offers optimum heat dissipation and electromagnetic shielding.
Ceramic ferrules are now available in an 80-µm ID version; the ferrules come in various ODs, lengths, and other dimensions. Standard-size ceramic ferrules and sleeves are also offered. Custom configurations including vent holes, counterbores, two-stage ODs, notches, grooves, and other options can be produced.
Limit electromagnetic interference (EMI) emissions and increase shielding effectiveness with optical EMI shielding adapters. SC adapters are available in simplex, LC adapters in duplex and quad, and MPO adapters in simplex and quad configurations. Options include screw or snap mount, straight or 45° angled. The new Multi-Format 45° mount adapter allows LC connectors to mate inside the panel to LC, MU, or LX.5 connectors on the customer port.
AllWave FLEX singlemode fiber is claimed to be the first zero water peak G.652D fiber to offer optimized bend performance for FTTH, enterprise, or any application in which small bend diameters are encountered. The fiber maintains very low bending loss across the full spectrum of wavelengths from 1,260 to 1,625 nm. AllWave FLEX fiber retains the benefits of AllWave Zero Water Peak fiber, with very low PMD and excellent geometry control for the lowest splice and connector loss.
980M is a high-performance, mid-NA fiber optimized for use by coupler manufacturers in the telecom industry. It features low, consistent splice and bend loss, and a design to minimize excess loss in the coupler. The fiber is produced with extremely tight second mode cut-off tolerance and the high tensile strength necessary for long-term reliability in tight-bend-radius applications. The singlemode fiber supports wavelengths from 980 to 1,600 nm.
The 1 for 8 optical protection switch features eight in→out optical through paths and one protection path. Any of its eight inputs can be switched to the protection output. Designed for network link or equipment protection, it measures 100×45×11 mm and features low insertion loss, a wide wavelength range, and fast switching speed. It also provides one update port for cascading two (1:8) to become one (1:16) switch. Latching/nonlatching options, built-in position monitors, and standard 5-V DC driving voltage make system integration easy.

Applying LaserCleave micromachining technology to multifiber arrays (particularly in machining fibers in proximity to V-groove arrays) improves optical performance of the assembly and allows easier integration. The assemblies have been made hermetic through metallization or glass-sealing of metal feedthroughs direct to the glass fiber. This allows users to be able to source complete fiber assemblies from one supplier. Light yet rugged, the fiber assemblies are suited for components in harsh and demanding applications.
As a new member of the mini serial product line, the mini-hybrid WDM/isolator can be customized for combining a pump signal (915/940-nm multimode or 980/1,480-nm singlemode) with a 1,550- or 1,064-nm signal and a built-in isolator core. Both forward-pumping and backward-pumping configurations are supported. The mini-hybrid is perfect for optical amplifier and industrial laser applications in which physical dimensions are constrained.
Offering multiple bit rates of 1/2 /4 Gbits/sec, a single-fiber bidirectional SFP transceiver transmits up to 80 km. This serial transceiver provides a simple way to implement high-speed fiber-optic transmission by combining the transmit and receive functions via a single fiber without an external splitter, reducing the cost of fiber cabling.
Board-mountable Fiber Optic Sugar Cubes transmitters and receivers come in a variety of wavelengths and fiber types. These devices are available in ST, SC, or FC packages; available wavelengths are 850, 1,310, or 1,550 nm with multiple options. The transmitters may be equipped with a LED, an ELED, a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser, or Fabry-Perot or DFB lasers. The receivers are available with a PIN, PIN TIA, or an avalanche photodiode.
For 10GBase-SR and 10GBase-SW applications, a 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) SFP+ transceiver features a proprietary 850-nm VCSEL coupled to an LC optical connector for high reliability. The transceiver is available as lead-free and RoHS compliant with excellent EMI performance. The PLANEX planar external-cavity laser TOSA enables transceivers and transponders to deliver telecom-grade performance with datacom economics. The Precision Advantage AG-1 tunable DFB laser with Multi Variable Control System (MVCS) offers an effective linewidth between 5 and 10 kHz and frequency stability of ±5 MHz for approximately two orders-of-magnitude improvement over today’s semiconductor lasers. It also provides very high signal coherency for accurate measurements over long distances. The AG-1 is nonmicrophonic and is tunable across the C- and L-bands with a tuning range up to 3 nm and a minimum step size of 0.5 pm.
Precision isolators, featuring proprietary garnet films and rutile crystal elements, include both standard and custom package configurations such as free space, in-line, receptacle (TOSA/ROSA), and ultrasmall surface-mount versions. All isolators are available in single, semi-double, and double crystal arrangements and are designed to minimize insertion loss.
Internal shuttered offerings for SC adapters provide a cost-effective means of shielding potentially harmful light. This integrated, retractable shutter inside the adapter body is only actuated by inserting the SC connector into the adapter. Contact with the ferrule endface and fiber core is avoided due to the stepped design of the shutter, preventing endface damage. This fully automatic design is an alternative to external shutter products.
Easy-to-use indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) linear photodiode arrays are telecom-reliable and available in volume. The LD and LDB InGaAs arrays feature 256 and 512 elements on 25-µm pixel pitch and a pixel height of 25 and 500 µm, respectively. The channels are 100% operable and show high uniformity. Arrays are hybridized with proprietary and exclusively designed CMOS readout ICs to offer maximum noise immunity and sensitivity. Both series of linear arrays are available with thermoelectric coolers for temperature stabilization and monitoring.
The TK3714 is claimed to be the first product to extend the performance of EPON beyond 1 Gbit/sec. With dual-mode operation featuring autodetection capabilities, the system-on-chip (SoC) offers a seamless upgrade path for customers using the company’s 1-Gbit EPON optical network unit (ONU) SoCs. The chip can operate either in 1.25-Gbit symmetrical mode (compatible with existing 1-Gbit EPON networks) or in the “Turbo” mode to support 2.5-Gbit downstream and 1.25-Gbit upstream traffic. With a 10/100 Ethernet UNI port and a 10/100/1000 Ethernet UNI port and built-in support for triple-play services, the TK3714 is suitable for service providers looking to deploy applications for both FTTH and FTTB subscribers.
The ClearSpectrum-TDC tunable dispersion compensator delivers dynamic control over chromatic dispersion in the optical domain to help manage time-dependent dispersion effects in high-speed communications networks. This component enables DWDM systems to operate at 40 Gbits/sec and is based on the company’s multichannel fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technology. The compensator can be used to tune dispersion on a per-channel basis or over multiple optical channels when used in-line for 10-Gbit/sec systems.
High-density MPO cable assemblies are available in 24-, 48-, and 72-fiber models. Typically, MPO connectors and cable assemblies have been available with 12 fibers. With the recent release of parallel optical transceivers, there has been an increasing demand for aggregating several transceivers into a single connector; the 24-, 48-, and 72-fiber MPO cable assemblies provide a convenient way to meet customers’ current and future high-density fiber management requirements.

The Xponent XP1-0093 is a 10-Gbit/sec PIN-TIA surface-mount MSA-compatible optical receiver. An attractive cost-performance ratio is achieved with Surface Mount Photonics, a suite of chip and package designs that enables high-volume, low-cost manufacturing processes. The product is designed for short-range 10-Gbit networks in telecom, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel.
Based on the WB-9000 family of wavelength blockers, the WSS-11000 wavelength-selective switch provides systems designers with a tool to create flexible, wavelength-agile optical networks that can be configured remotely. Whether used in 9×1 or 1×9 configurations, the switch exhibits high optical performance for all ports, characterized by wide, flat-top passbands; low insertion and polarization-dependent losses; and very high extinction.

A family of family of remotely managed and fully automated fiber management (AFM) connectivity devices reduces the total cost of fiber network ownership. The flagship AFM-360 enables nonblocking switching of 180×180 fiber ports. Based on patented Dynamic Optical Coupling (DOC) technology, the AFM-360 features very low insertion (less than 0.5 dB) and return losses (less than -45 dB) and a proprietary latching mechanism that guarantees transmission, even during power loss.
The iConverter 10/100M2 is a 10/100 UTP-to-fiber network interface device (NID) designed for FTTX metro Ethernet and enterprise edge applications. The NID provides intelligent demarcation, offering quality of service and rate limiting in 64-kbit increments. It features 2,048 byte frames, Q-in-Q VLAN, Layer 2 Control Protocol Policy Control, and SFP transceivers for standard or CWDM applications. The LightEffector 4100 is the base model of a line of CWDM transmission equipment. The OCMs can easily accommodate advanced modulation schemes and are futureproof for next-generation network architectures.
The IntelliGuard Thin Optical Channel Performance Monitor Series delivers precise measurements and powerful processing capabilities to DWDM/CWDM applications in an ultrathin 68×96×9.8 mm size. It features real-time, less than 1-msec raw data response time, no moving parts (GR1209/1221/63 qualified), and an athermal design for ultralow power consumption (less than 0.7 W) at room temperature. The OCM is suited for next-generation network embedded ROADMs or handheld test equipment.
The WavePath wavelength-selective switch (WSS) with integrated OCM incorporates typically discrete functions into a single module: multiplexing/demultiplexing, hitless wavelength reconfiguration (allowing any incoming wavelengths to be distributed to any output port), dynamic channel attenuation, channel wavelength and power monitoring, wavelength blocking, and switch configuration verification. The WSS features 10 fiber ports, configurable to either 1×9 or 9×1 functionality, and supports up to 45 100-GHz or 96 50-GHz C-band channels.
The Kitty Hawk is an optical coherent receiver system that provides a cost-effective, flexible communications platform with high sensitivity up to 10 Gbits/sec, both with and without optical preamplification. It includes automatic wavelength tracking, locking to the incoming signal, and polarization-independent operation; preserves optical phase information; and is capable of detecting multiple modulation formats.

The EssexEdge family of extended-reach XFP transceivers is available with reaches exceeding 80 km; wide temperature (-40° to +85°C) performance; DWDM capability; SONET/SDH-compliant jitter; and bit rates up to 11.1 Gbits/sec. This is achieved in a standard, single-slot XFP-compliant package, with a maximum power dissipation that does not exceed the XFP MSA standard of 3.5 W, over life/over temperature.
The I-MON Series E-USB interrogation monitors offer real-time spectrum monitoring of FBG sensors. High spectrometer resolution combined with broad wavelength range provides a high-resolution interrogation monitor allowing measurement of a large number of sensors. High sensitivity allows high resolution also at very low light levels. With its USB interface and data acquisition software, the monitor provides easy setup with a laptop and can act as standalone monitor in combination with a customer-selected light source.
Customized and cost-effective EDFAs exhibit low noise figures, output powers ranging from 17 to 22 dBm, and input powers as low as -30 dBm. The products are plug-and-play and come in a user-friendly benchtop package, module, or 19-inch rack if required.
With strict adherence to GR-1312-CORE and RoHS requirements, an all-field EDFA is widely used in global optical networks. The EDFA is offered in a 1-U rack or 3-U plug-in size, with 90×70×15-mm and 150×125×20-mm modules available. The max output power exceeds 26 dBm, and noise figure is lower than 5 dB. Custom design is also offered.
The 40-channel integrated planar lightwave circuit (PLC) ROADM is a critical building block for agile optical networks, making it possible for service providers to dynamically add capacity and flexibility to their networks and deliver on-demand services to consumers. The ROADM provides the ability to remotely configure any wavelength, enabling the cost-effective creation and deployment of more complex network architectures.
The MI 40000XS 40-Gbit/sec DWDM transport subsystem combines modulation format and built-in adaptive dispersion mitigation technology, which delivers high chromatic- and polarization-dispersion tolerances, making deployment of 40 Gbits/sec as easy as 10-Gbit/sec deployments. The platform’s design is based upon the emerging AdvancedTCA300 industry standard.
The N+1 switch with N number of pass-through ports and one additional “reserve” port for singlemode-fiber redundancy is designed to replace traditional redundancy architectures that often use combinations of 1×N and 1×2 switches. Reducing the number of parts decreases size and cost (dimensions are 44×436×402 mm). Maximum insertion loss is 1 dB on the through ports and 1.5 dB max on the reserve port.
The VGA series variable-gain EDFA is designed for DWDM long-haul and metro applications. It has high optical performance, featuring wide input power and flat gain range, low noise figure, fast transient suppression, and mid-stage access. The built-in intelligent electronics and firmware provide real-time control of operating modes and monitoring of the amplifier status. The TXFP optical transceiver series fully supports equipment manufacturers in developing 10-Gbit/sec networks. The transceivers are based on 10-Gbit/sec serial optical data transmission; they support multiple rates and are fully compliant to the XFP MSA telecom and datacom standards. Optical receiver stress tester
A new test package enables repeatable and complete optical receiver stress testing for ROSAs and transceiver modules that operate at up to 12.5-Gbit/sec data rates. Calibrated and complete optical jitter and stress injection is now possible with the new reference transmitter, software, and filter sets in combination with the J-BERT N4903A high-performance serial BERT and 86100C Infiniium DCA-J.
Reportedly the only OSA on the market based on an all-optical technology, the BOSA-C quickly measures optical spectra with simultaneous high resolution (10 MHz) and high dynamic range (greater than 80 dB), for any span. The analyzer reveals many features of the optical spectra of active devices and signals. Among other applications, the BOSA-C can be used to carry out chirp measurements in lasers and modulators with different methods.

An after-market software suite that integrates and controls the functions and data transfer of the JDS RM3 insertion loss/backreflection meters, IRISS (Integrated Return/Insertion Loss Software) allows the user to set up preprogrammed routines based on user-friendly configuration files. The ZX-1 mini PMS PLUS interferometer is designed for high-volume endface geometry testing of single-fiber, single-ferrule fiber-optic connectors. Its self-contained design incorporates autocentering, autofocus, and automatic calibration; no manual adjustments are required. The AXS-110 is a handheld, quadruple-wavelength optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR). Available in multimode, singlemode, and quadruple-wavelength versions (850/1,300 nm and 1,310/1,550 nm), this lightweight unit offers easy operation; 1-m dead zone; 8-cm resolution; 8-hour power autonomy; and an easy-to-interpret results screen showing pass/fail status for each wavelength, fiber length, and macrobend.
PolaWise is a polarization measurement system for characterizing all polarization-related properties of lightwaves and optical materials, including PMD, polarization-dependent loss (PDL), polarization extinction ratio (PER), SOP, and DOP. The instrument includes an internal tunable laser for PDL and PMD measurement. It can also use external displays, tunable lasers, and USB storage media for added flexibility.

FiBO 300's vibration-insensitive, true phase-shifting Michelson design for 3D/2D fiber surface mapping and microscope inspection features three variable magnification settings (1.8X to 20X) to display single/multimode 125-to-700-µm fiber connectors at optimum resolution. Kinematic adapters ensure exact positioning. The LRM test set integrates an optical source with the required drive signal filtering, noise, and intersymbol interference for comprehensive stressed receiver tests. The test set also integrates a reference receiver to verify the optical source’s calibration and enable transmitter compliance tests.
HUXCleaner, with its integrated microscope on a pen-type fiber-optic cleaner, helps save time and effort by combining inspection and cleaning capabilitiesinto one tool. It can be placed on an adapter to inspect the ferrule; then the user can choose the cleaning option if necessary. The unit can be used to clean up to 500 times for 1.25-mm (LC, MU) and 2.5-mm (SC, FC, ST) ferrule types.
The FiberChek2 platform provides automated pass/fail testing. This integrated hardware/software system enables users to define and manage pass/fail criteria and conduct repeatable analyses at the push of a button. FiberChek2 also provides dynamic reporting to allow archiving and sharing of data and images in both digital and print for-mats. Multifunction fiber-strip unit
The FPU Polyimide Unit strips polyimide, metallic, and carbon coatings from optical fibers. The unit uses a patent-pending process known as Ion Enhanced Cold Plasma (IECP) to strip and clean fiber. By ionizing the atmosphere surrounding the plasma field, it creates a steady, low-temperature arc immune to environmental conditions. The unit automatically controls the strip, clean, and cleave process.
The “LDF” models of the FSM-45F/45PM fusion splicers provide large-diameter fiber splicing for fiber laser manufacturing. The FSM-45F-LDF easily splices fiber with diameters ranging from less than 80 µm to larger than 500 µm. It also utilizes feedback from an Adaptif PER Analyzer to provide precise alignment of virtually any polarization-maintaining fiber.
MetroWAND’s network-modeling environment streamlines network modeling, network design, and service planning. The new version 3.5 includes the Optical Engineering Module, which enables the user to assess network performance in terms of Q, bit-error rate, and OSNR, taking into account physical layer characteristics such as fiber dispersion, loss, and noise. Fusion splice system
The ZEUS Fusion field termination kit includes the 2.5- and 1.25-mm Crocodile “Alberino” ferrule assembly, available in PC and APC versions. Connector terminations are available in SM and MM for E-2000, SC, FC, ST, and F-3000 (LC). Protection of the splice within the ferrule assembly eliminates the need for splice trays and protectors.
The Fibreflow line consists of a range of tube bundles from 3 to 12 mm, as well as accessories and fiber counts from 2 to 96fibers, for OSP and in-building applications. BICSI-accredited certification courses are also offered to ensure successful fiber network deployments.
