Fiber-optic transceiver modules

Three led-based 1300-nm fiber-optic transceiver modules provide standard- compliant solutions to the requirements of high-speed, intrabuilding interconnects over multimode fiber-optic cabling. The hfm2451-001 Fast Ethernet module is for long-wavelength 100Base-FX format; the hfm2554-001 atm155 device is intended for long-wavelength 155-Mbit/sec atm; and the hfm2530-001 fddi unit suits 125-Mbit/sec ansi X3T12 format. Typical applications include lans, clustered workstation links, and connectors to mass-storage devices. Price is $40 to $70 (U.S. price only) in 1000-piece quantities. The modules are tested to meet requirements for long-wavelength transmission, which is up to 2 km in either 50- or 62.5-micron multimode fiber.
