Fiber-optic array connector

The Lightray mpx high-density array connector system for backplane connections provides up to 12 fiber interconnections in less space than a single SC connector. The system permits pluggable board-to-board interconnections. It provides typical insertion loss of 0.5 dB for multimode and singlemode connectors and a singlemode-connector reflection loss of -50 dB. Fibers are on 250-micron centers. Connectors use housing on both the daughterboard and backplane. Misalignment tolerances are ۬.0 mm horizontally,

۬.5 mm vertically, and ۬ angularly.
