Fiber-optic interconnection system

The Mini-MT fiber-optic interconnection system provides a 2-fiber interconnection in less space than a single SC connector. The system has been proposed as the next-generation duplex interconnection in applications that include Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, and tia/eia-568 premises cabling. The connector is field-installable and uses a ferrule technology similar to that used for multifiber MT-style connectors. Fibers are on 0.75-micron centers. Transceivers feature a 10- or 20-pin dual inline footprint and are about one-half the size of industry-standard SC duplex transceivers.
