Fiber-optic transceivers

Three multimode transceivers incorporating the vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser source provide high-speed serial optical interconnects for lan backbones, high-performance workstations, and telecommunications applications. The Gigabit Ethernet SX transceiver uses 850-nm sources and detectors operating at data rates to 1.25 Gbits/sec. The Fibre Channel SX also uses 850-nm sources and detectors, but operates at data rates to 1.0625 Gbits/sec. The 622-Mbit/sec intermediate-range transceiver provides electro-optic serial data transmission over multimode fiber.
