6 August 2003 Berlin, Germany Lightwave -- MergeOptics GmbH, developer of highly integrated, low power, fiber-optic components and subsystems, recently announced the general availability of its 10-Gbit/sec photodiode PIN.

The latest addition to the company's portfolio of shipping products, MergeOptics' PIN product is suitable for 10-Gbit/sec operation and is compliant to OC-192 SDH/SONET, 4-Gbit/sec and 10-Gbit/sec Fibre Channel, 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10-GbE) standards, and proprietary 10-Gbit/sec protocols. It is applicable for wavelengths from 1210 nm to 1565 nm. The PIN photodiode is available in die form and is wire-bondable and flip-chip mountable.

MergeOptics develops products for the rapidly growing 10-Gbit/sec market and announced availability of its XFP, X2, and OptoPack TOSA/ROSA product family earlier this year. The company claims its next-generation small form factor 10-Gbit/sec products set new standards in power dissipation and performance. The 10-Gbit/sec OptoPack product family supports all major standards, including XFP, X2, and Xenpak.
