22 September 2003 Dublin -- Intune Technologies has announced the launch of the new AltoWave1300 fast swept tunable laser source.

The AltoWave product line is based on semiconductor tunable lasers. This underlying technology brings new benefits to customers in a diverse range of applications in terms of cost, reliability and speed. The AltoWave1300 is a fast swept laser source covering 80 nm in wavelength range.

The source is suitable for field deployment in tough environments. It can exceed the performance of lab-based solutions while also delivering reliability, ruggedness and still remain cost effective. Over 1200 individually and actively locked set points are available in this instrument, guaranteeing a long life-time of performance.

"The AltoWave1300 is another example of a market driven product developed by Intune", says John Dunne, CEO. "Our customers have driven the development of this product and it is now generally available. We can deliver and support this product today, anywhere in the world, and support beta trials and individual customisations."

The AltoWave product line is a series of tunable laser based instruments for use in a variety of diverse markets such as the oil and gas sensing industry, metrology, test and measurement, laser interferometry and lidar systems for military, aerospace and manufacturing. Each AltoWave product has excellent thermal and vibrational stability and a fast swept laser which is controlled purely by electronics and has no mechanical parts.

About Intune
Intune Technologies is a recognised global leader in supplying optoelectronic products, services and solutions to a diverse range of fast growth optical networking, optical sensing systems and manufacturing applications. Founded in 1999 in Dublin, Ireland, with a mission to release the true potential of light as an information asset, Intune has achieved exponential growth performance year-on-year.

For optical networking, Intune supplies the AltoNet series of ultra-fast wavelength switched subsystems. The AltoWave high-speed laser swept source is available for optical sensing applications. Both of these products are built on Intune's AltoSoft software manufacturing platform, commercially available for laser calibration and test.

The Intune Alto solution set can be rapidly deployed into customers' incumbent electronics-based systems, facilitating the transition to the benefits of photonics-based solutions. This radically reduces time-to-market and enhances customers' business productivity. Intune's ongoing commitment to its customer base is to deliver the best optoelectronic solutions, on schedule and to specification and to provide support with a world-class customer service program.
