Transmode Systems AB has launched a new service designed to help service providers deploy new networks quickly and more efficiently. The Pre-Staging service reduces onsite time, simplifies logistics and ensures quality by building, patching, and configuring chassis in a controlled environment prior to shipping to the site, the company says.

Transmode has previously custom-built networks remotely for some clients, but the company is now offering the Pre-Staging service to all customers. As part of the service, Transmode will pre-build, pre-configure and test the exact network configuration in its own facilities before shipping to the customer's premises.

"We are seeing a trend that more and more of our customers asking to deploy their network equipment using a pre-staging service,” comments Dan Rydberg, the company's vice president of operations and customer service. “The Pre-Staging service will help our customers reduce network deployment time and speed uptime to revenue. Specifically, it will reduce onsite time by up to 50% compared to deployments that have not been pre-staged.

The company’s Pre-Staging team performs the service in a controlled five-step process that can be selected by its customers. The team helps define requirements, pre-build exact hardware configuration, configure software and test completed network, all before being clearly labeled and shipped to site. To meet customer specific requirements, the Pre-Staging service can be tailor-made and delivered with combinations of these steps.

Transmode's Pre-Staging service utilizes standard project management tools, ensuring a structured and repeatable process.

Surf Telecoms benefited from the Pre-Staging service during its recent major network upgrade and rollout. Andy Baker, design manager at Surf Telecoms in the UK says, "We found the Pre-Staging service from Transmode a great benefit. Having the correct equipment for each site, with all cards, cabling and software pre-installed, along with all settings pre-configured and the whole configuration pre-tested onsite at a central Surf location greatly speeded up the installation process. It also greatly increased the quality of the network rollout as configuration errors were removed and we knew the network equipment had already been fully tested. Overall this reduced cost and helped make the project run smoothly and on track."
