JDSU Introduces MAP-200 for the Most Demanding Lab and Manufacturing Test Environments

June 25, 2008
Milpitas, Calif., June 25, 2008 -- JDSU today announced the latest generation of its Multiple Application Platform (MAP) optical test and measurement platform, the MAP-200, that is optimized for the cost-effective development and manufacturing of optical transmission network elements.

Milpitas, Calif., June 25, 2008 -- JDSU today announced the latest generation of its Multiple Application Platform (MAP) optical test and measurement platform, the MAP-200, that is optimized for the cost-effective development and manufacturing of optical transmission network elements. The MAP-200 offers a very broad portfolio of fiber optic power measurement and signal management tools using an updated, dense and highly configurable platform.

The MAP-200 represents an investment in productivity-enhancing technologies and tools for the most stringent test applications found in lab and manufacturing environments. With its industry-leading features, the MAP-200 speeds network system development and provides unmatched visibility into the performance of network elements.

"Today's rapidly-changing optical market requires investment in productivity-enhancing technologies and tools like the MAP-200," said Enzo di Luigi, general manager in JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement business segment. "Thanks to its multi-function capabilities and ease-of-use, the MAP-200 enables a quick return on capital investment and simplifies testing -- which reduces operational expenses."

Key ease-of-use features include the industry's first compliance with LAN eXtensions for Instruments (LXI) standards, user-friendly controls and an intuitive, multi-language GUI. The MAP-200 also lowers operation and capital expenses via Interchangeable Virtual Instrument (IVI) drivers that are optimized for ease-of-use with most popular application development environments and provide reusable driver architecture. The drivers provide full control of MAP-200 modules and are based on common architecture to reduce the engineering time needed when working with multiple vendors.

The MAP-200 mainframe is offered in three configurations for optimal adaptability within test sets: a three-slot configuration and a 19-inch rack, eight-slot configuration with either front- or rear-facing orientation for optimal fiber routing. Investment protection is maximized by use of a simple transition kit, which allows insertion of previously field-deployed MAP modules in the MAP-200 mainframe. Furthermore, the MAP-200 provides additional cost savings by letting users share modules within a mainframe.

There are 16 MAP-200 modules including power meters, amplifiers, attenuators, tunable filters, switches, and sources that offer industry-leading performance features.
