Molex Inc. says its new OptoConnect Custom Optical Enclosures simplify complex fiber-optic mapping issues, using integrated FlexPlane optical circuitry. The enclosures provide a complete end-to-end optical management system that interfaces with high-density telecom and datacom equipment from a variety of manufacturers, the company assets.

The OptoConnect enclosures target complex fiber-optic interconnection topologies beyond the scope of patch-cord-based connections, according to Tom Marrapode, director of marketing, Molex. The NEBS-compliant custom fiber-optic enclosures integrate high-density fiber-optic circuits, interconnects, and optional passive components to streamline complex ingress and egress fiber port mapping. Applications include mesh networks, wavelength-selective switching, and software-defined networking/network function virtualization (SDN/NFV) topologies.

The enclosures can leverage complementary products such as MPO and LC loopback connectors and MTP/MPO LC cable assemblies to provide a complete optical interconnect solution set, Molex says. Customers also have the option to have Molex design an enclosure specifically for their requirements.
