Y.1731 support added by OE Solutions and AimValley to Smart SFP optical transceivers

OE Solutions and AimValley have upgraded their Smart SFP line with support for ITU-T Y.1731 frame loss and frame delay measurement and VLAN-aware maintenance end points.

OE Solutions and AimValley have upgraded their Smart SFP line with support for ITU-T Y.1731 frame loss and frame delay measurement and VLAN-aware maintenance end points.

Optical transceiver vendor OE Solutions and technology development services company Aim Valley announced a partnership last December. The two companies then unveiled the Smart SFP transceivers, which feature integrated operations, administration, and maintenance (OAM) features, this past February (see “Smart SFP first offering from OE Solutions, AimValley collaboration”).

The Smart SFP’s integrated OAM capabilities enable operators to more effectively monitor and troubleshoot Ethernet services. Adding the Y.1731 monitoring capabilities means the optical transceivers can be used to provide accurate measurement of frame loss and frame delay. These measurements can be performed per end-user and per individual class of service level.

The Smart SFP series covers a range of transceiver types, including dual fiber, single fiber BiDi, CWDM, and Gigabit Ethernet with reaches up to 80 km over the industrial temperature range of-40 to +85oC.
