Sumitomo Electric touts transceivers at ECOC

SEPTEMBER 22, 2006 -- Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (SEI) will highlight its line of transceivers at the European Conference on Optical Communications in Booths 664 and 668.

SEPTEMBER 22, 2006 -- Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (SEI) will highlight its line of transceivers at the European Conference on Optical Communications in Booths 664 and 668.

Highlights include:


  • XFP transceivers for 10-Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and SONET transmission, with support for both 1310-nm directly modulated and 1550-nm electroabsorption-modulated operation for reaches up to 80 km. The transceivers offer low power consumption, a bail-latch design for easier installation and removal, and advanced diagnostics.
  • X2 transceivers for 10-Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel transmission, with support for reaches up to 80 km.
  • SFP transceivers supporting data rates from OC-3 to OC-48 and Gigabit Ethernet/Fibre Channel, with enhanced diagnostics, extended temperature versions, and hot-pluggable operation.
  • DWDM SFP transceivers with low power consumption for applications up to 2.67 Gbits/sec for OTU1 per ITU-T G.709 OTN.
  • CWDM SFP transceivers covering all 18 standard CWDM wavelengths and offering multi-rate operation up to 2.67 Gbits/sec for OTU1 per ITU-T G.709 OTN.
  • Diplexers and triplexers to enable cost-effective, high-performance FTTP deployment, with support for GPON, EPON, BPON, and point-to-point devices, extended temperature operation, and stable operation and reliability.
The company's vertical integration allows Sumitomo Electric Industries to offer a wide range of high-performance lasers and photodiodes for a large array of applications. These include mini-TOSAs to uncooled coaxial lasers for cost-effective application in CATV and FTTP systems. In addition to its DFB and CWDM lasers, Sumitomo also offers lasers for Ethernet and Fibre Channel applications up to 4G Fibre Channel.
