MARCH 21, 2007 -- OE Solutions says it developed the new family of bi-directional CWDM transceivers to support both wireless backhaul applications and broadband metro and access wireline applications.

MARCH 21, 2007 -- OE Solutions Co., Ltd. (search for OE Solutions) today announced a new family of bi-directional, single-fiber CWDM SFP transceivers.

According to the company, this family of bi-directional CWDM transceivers was developed to support both wireless backhaul (search for wireless backhaul) applications and broadband metro and access wireline applications. In order to meet diverse customer requirements, OE Solutions' transceivers are available with a variety of options, including data rates ranging from 125 Mbits/sec to 2.5 Gbits/sec; 2 km to 80 km reach; any transmitter/receiver wavelength combination compatible with the CWDM grid, including the same wavelength; and either standard temperature (-5 to +75 ° C) or industrial temperature (-40 to +85 ° C).

The entire family conforms to the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) and is compliant with the European Parliament's restriction on the use of certain hazardous substances directive (RoHS). Additionally, for wireless backhaul applications, these bi-directional CWDM transceivers are compatible with the Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI).

"Bi-directional, single-fiber solutions are emerging as a key technology for applications where fiber management and fiber exhaust are growing concerns, because they can help lower infrastructure costs," contends Richard Burroughs, director of sales and marketing for OE Solutions. "Incorporating CWDM capability into the bi-directional transceivers raises the solution to the next level by significantly increasing transport capacity over a single strand of fiber without requiring a costly system redesign."

Moreover, he says, "Bi-directional CWDM SFPs represent an even more compelling solution for wireless backhaul applications where bandwidth demand continues to grow exponentially while fiber lease cost remains prohibitively expensive for connection between base stations, repeaters, and Remote Radio Heads [RRHs]. We are excited to offer our bi-directional CWDM SFP and SFF solutions to wireless systems and service customers like Samsung Electronics, LG-Nortel, KTF, and SK Telecom."

OE Solutions will be showcasing its new bi-directional SFP product family in Booth #3703 at the upcoming OFC/NFOEC Conference and Exposition in Anaheim, CA, on March 27-29, 2007.
