Pirelli's ITLA

SEPTEMBER 17, 2007 — Pirelli Broadband Solutions began volume shipments of its integrable tunable laser assembly (ITLA) optical modules to telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies, after completing an integration phase. The partnership with Huawei for the ITLA module began in 2006, says Mauro Sacchetto, CEO, Pirelli Broadband Solutions.

Designed for DWDM optical networks, the ITLA, with built-in control electronics and dynamically tunable laser, is compact and reliable. It can integrate onto an MSA 300-pin board or a line card. The ITLA is available for L-band applications. Pirelli claims that the product can enhance an equipment vendor's product offerings by allowing tunability integration in next-generation optical networks.
