JUNE 7, 2007 -- Norrsken, a major regional operator in Sweden has selected Transmode (search for Transmode), provider of optical networking equipment, and partner Lidén Data for a network-wide 10G upgrade utilizing Transmode's new Dual 10G Transponder.
The capacity upgrade and network expansion extends Norrsken's networking capabilities across Sweden and further enhances its carriers-carrier services. In addition to deploying Transmode's 9x Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) 10G Muxponder in the capacity upgrade, the company says Norrsken is the first customer to deploy its Double 10G Transponder, the TPD10GBE.Â
According to the company, the transponder provides industry leading 10-GbE networking density and pricing, along with the highest level of functionality with features such as in-band management, Forward Error Correction, and optional regeneration capabilities.
"Whilst Transmode is a long term CWDM supplier to Norrsken, we took this opportunity to re-evaluate the whole supplier market in making the decision on our 10G DWDM supplier," recalls Björn Jonsson, Norrsken's CEO. "Following the evaluation, Transmode and Lidén Data remained the best choice for Norrsken, and we are excited about the capabilities this new network provides us and our customer."
The Transmode TM-series Multi-reach Optical Platform provides users with a common set of C/DWDM Transponders and Muxponders over a range of three chassis options from high-capacity 10-u chassis to 1-u chassis for access nodes, say company representatives. The TM-Series supports a range of single- and dual-fiber configurations providing transport and access for regional and national networks to metro and campus networks.
