May 24, 2004 Komaki, Japan -- Santec, manufacturer of fiber-optic components and sub-systems, has unveiled a new, high power tunable laser.

The TSL-210H utilizes the latest advances in semiconductor laser and optical coating technology and emits over 40 mW of optical power over its entire 1520- to 1580-nm tuning range. According to company representatives, this is the highest power laser of its type on the market; its high power eliminates the need for subsequent amplification in many applications. The laser also has the advantage of lower noise and significantly low cost.

The TSL-210H maintains all the features of Santec's current TSL-210 design, with ease of use and excellent long-term power and wavelength stabilities. A fine-tuning function, variable coherence control, and RS232C and GPIB interfaces are provided as standard.
The laser is suitable for a wide range of fiber optic applications, particularly DWDM system and EDFA testing.
