26 November 2002 -- Teem Photonics, Grenoble, France, has won an award for innovation from the French National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI).

Teem, a provider of ultra-compact photonic solutions for high bandwidth optical networks and pioneer in erbium doped waveguide amplifiers (EDWA), is one of five hi-tech companies from the Rhone-Alpes region to receive an INPI Innovation Trophy 2002 for technology.

Every two years, the INPI distinguishes industrial companies and research institutions in France with under 1000 employees who judiciously use intellectual property as a key strategic element in their research and development policy.

Winners are selected based on several criteria, which include the number of patents and trade marks filed and exploited in France and abroad in the last six years, the number of licenses granted, the annual IP budget, and the amount of investment made in research and development in the last four years.

"It is gratifying to have the efforts of our R & D engineers rewarded", said Denis Barbier, CTO. "This trophy reinforces Teem's image as an innovator and brings added recognition to our proprietary planar waveguide technology and products".
