Erbium-doped optical fiber

The P/N FS-ER-7A28 erbium-doped optical fiber is suitable for use in optical amplifiers and has been developed specifically for cable-TV and wdm applications, small-signal amplifiers, and inline amplifiers. The fiber has a peak absorption of 7.0 dBm at 1530 nm. The mode-field diameter is 4.9 microns with a numerical aperture of 0.28 ± 0.02. The cutoff wavelength of the fiber is targeted for between 800 and 950 nm, allowing singlemode propagation of pump power at both 980 and 1480 nm. The background loss at 1200 nm is below 15 dB/km and has a l-4 dependence with respect to wavelength in the regions of interest. The fiber`s outer diameter is 125 microns with an overall polymer coating diameter of 245 microns.
