OpenCon Communication Systems, Inc. announces DCC solution with distributed forwarding
OpenCon Communication Systems, Inc., a provider of SONET-DCC solutions, now provides an off-the-shelf Data Communication Channel (DCC) solution with centralized routing and distributed forwarding. DCC solutions are software solutions that allow next generation optical networking equipment from multiple vendors to communicate. OCCS' DCC solution is designed to ensure interoperability with other optical networking equipment vendors.
With optical networking equipment continuing to get bigger, faster and more complex, the requirements placed on DCC solutions are beginning to become more complex as well. Many next generation optical networking equipment vendors are developing systems with multiple, high density line cards terminating DCC traffic in each line card. This multi-line card architecture has created the need for DCC subsystems with a centralized routing engine and distributed forwarding architecture. OCCS' DCC Solution with Distributed Forwarding was designed with this in mind.
OCCS' DCC solution allows full distribution of all DCC components. The DCC upper layer software can reside either on the main controller unit or the router unit, the router software can reside on the router unit, and the forwarding feature can be installed on each of the DCC terminating line cards. The OCCS-DCC solution eliminates the need for customization of less-robust DCC solutions. The distributed architecture of OCCS' DCC solution improves PDU forwarding performance and significantly reduces DCC related traffic over the backplane among the units involved in the DCC processing. When you combine this feature with the additional features of IP Tunneling for IP Relay over OSI Networks, and a TCP/IP to OSI Mediation Module for transporting TL-1 traffic over TCP/IP and OSI, you have a true complete DCC solution.
