December 17, 2001DiCon Fiberoptics, Inc. (Richmond, CA) today announced the commercial availability of its dynamic band equalizer (DBE).

The DBE is used to monitor and adjust power levels in groups of four bands based on 50, 100, or 200 GHz channel grids. The DBE flattens power levels of WDM channels at the input stage of metro amplifiers or WDM terminal equipment receivers, and at the output stage of optical add/drop multiplexers.

The equalizer is based on DiCons Telcordia-qualified MEMS attenuator, thin film WDM, and fused coupler components, and is available as an ultra-compact 4-band module, OEM modules, and plug-in cards. The devices can be field upgraded in groups of four bands without service disruption.
