650-mile rebuild

Sammons Communications` 650-mile rebuild of its Glendale, CA, cable-TV system is using distribution electronics from General Instrument Corp., Chicago. Dallas-based Sammons is purchasing and deploying 750-megahert¥distribution products, including broadband telecommunications amplifiers, line extenders, status monitoring and assorted taps and passive components. The rebuild, a two-way active system, is a fiber-to-the-feeder architecture down to 2000-home nodes.
