EMCORE's transmitter and amplifier line provide SNMP management
FEBRUARY 28, 2008 -- EMCORE Corp. (search for EMCORE) has incorporated new features into its 1,550-nm broadband transmitter and optical amplifier product lines. In order to support the requirements for extended bandwidth cable TV systems and RF overlay for PON networks, these new products offer 1-GHz RF performance, dual hot-swappable power supplies, and SNMP management capabilities.
The new Medallion 5000 series of externally modulated transmitters offer 45- to 1,003-MHz RF passband with user-adjustable SBS suppression capabilities and transmitter output power of +11 dBm. Available with wavelength select lasers that operate on the ITU grid and capable of supporting optical launch powers of up to +22 dBm directly into the fiber when used with an optical amplifier, the transmitters deliver analog and digital data over distances up to 100 km. Extension of operational bandwidth to 1 GHz allows network operators to configure their networks to support expanding choices of standard digital and high-definition video content.
The company's new PONA 2200 and 3200 series optical amplifiers provide optical output power from +14 to +35 dBm over the entire C-band. PONA 2200 amplifiers are 1RU and available with optical outputs of +14 to +27 dBm. PONA 3200 amplifiers are 2RU and provide +27- to +35-dBm optical output power. Multiple optical output configurations are available, with up to 32 output ports for the PONA 3200 high-power amplifier.
Demonstration units will be available during the second calendar quarter of 2008.
