StrataLight expands portfolio with 40G 300-pin modules
FEBRUARY 26, 2008 -- StrataLight Communications Inc. (search for StrataLight), exhibiting at OFC 2008 this week, is now offering its OTM-4xx family of 300-pin multisource agreement (MSA) products, a complete line of modules for customer designs of 40-Gbit/sec line cards.
"Similar to our approach with 40-Gbit/sec subsystems, we are developing a complete suite of 40-Gbit/sec modules that enable system manufacturers to very quickly assemble line cards that fit in their own systems," explains David Sykes, vice president of sales and marketing.
StrataLight has partitioned the functions of high-capacity optical transponders into optical modulators and demodulators (oMODEMs), framer and forward-error correction encoders and decoders (CODECs), and optical impairment compensators.
The company's 40-Gbit/sec modules are designed to comply with industry standards and integrate with each other to provide equivalent functionality to its OTS-4000 subsystem products. These products enable deployment over existing optical line systems with dispersion maps designed for 10 Gbits/sec, support 50- or 100-GHz spaced DWDM systems, and operate with reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs).
