Sonet pact

Tellabs in Lisle, IL, and Lucent Technologies in Murray Hill, NJ, have formed a standards-based internetworking agreement for Synchronous Optical Network (Sonet) network equipment. Tellabs` titan 5500 digital crossconnect systems and Lucent Technologies` DDM-2000 OC-3/ OC-12 network multiplexers and FT-2000 OC-48 lightwave systems are included in the agreement. The agreement addresses Bellcore and Sonet Interoperability Forum standards for Sonet transport and ring applications.

Operational internetworking between the titan 5500 and DDM-2000 systems was demonstrated at the recent National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference held in Denver.
