The Metro-AE (all-electronics) EDFAs are compact modules designed for OEM integration in applications that require high gain and low noise figure. The driving and controlling electronics are fully integrated into a 4.0 × 2.2 × 0.5 in. package and require 5-V dc to operate. All modules are manufactured to meet Bellcore GR-1312-CORE requirements. The amplifiers have a typical noise figure of 5.0 dB across the entire wavelength range of 1530 to 1565 nm.
