Optelian says its TMX-2200 DWDM transponder and muxponder is now available. The optical networking systems providersays its TMX-2200 is cost-effective DWDM technology for 100 GbE or OTU4 services.

Interfacing to standard 100G SR4 or LR4 client optics, the TMX-2200 integrates a CFP2-DCO pluggable line interface with a software programmable DWDM modulation format that can function in 100G DP-QPSK or 200G DP-16QAM mode. As many as two 100G client services can be transported over an individual DWDM wavelength with optional physical layer encryption, says Optelian.

Optelian unveiled a pair of muxponders to complement its MPX-9110 unit in 2015 (see "Optelian offers two new 100G muxponders"). The TMX-2200 transponder and muxponder delivercomplete client- and line-side performance monitoring for clear service demarcation, fault localization, and SLA assurance, says the company. It is also useful for data center interconnect (DCI) and wholesale transport of 100G services, and offers opportunities for fiber relief in point-to-point applications.

"The challenge for us was designing a best-in-class transponder and muxponder that achieves the transport capacity of a leading-edge DCI solution, while also providing the reliability, wider operating temperature and much smaller depth expected for telco-grade networking equipment," said Scott Agnew, Optelian's vice president of R&D. "We pride ourselves in designing robust, high-quality products that are built to last for decades in the toughest environments, and we are confident we have once again succeeded in that endeavor with the TMX‑2200."

The TMX-2200 is NEBS qualified and is now available to customers.

Optelian will exhibit its TMX-2200 at OFC 2018 in San Diego, CA from March 13 through March 15 (booth #3748).
