November 10, 2005 Komaki, Japan -- Santec, a manufacturer of tunable lasers and test instruments for the fiber-optics industry, has introduced the first product in its new range of tunable lasers, the TSL-510. The TSL-510 adopts many of the key features of the company's existing TSL-210V external cavity tunable laser, but with a new front panel interface and a number of improved features and specifications.
According to the company, the TSL-510 is a compact, bench-top instrument with a 120-nm mode-hop-free tuning range, selectable within the 1260 1680 nm wavelength range. Optical output power is typically 10 mW. The laser has a 100-nm/sec rapid wavelength sweep function which is particularly suitable for fiber-optic component testing and material characterization in CWDM/DWDM applications.
The instrument has a numeric keypad with a bright fluorescent display for ease of control. The unit also has USB and GPIB interfaces; a LabView driver is supplied as standard.
