EXFO intros one-way delay measurements for Ethernet backhaul testing

EXFO Inc. (Nasdaq:EXFO) (TSX:EXF) says it has added one-way delay measurement to its portable Ethernet backhaul test offering. The new capabilities complement EXFO's patent-pending bidirectional testing functionalities for IP/Ethernet service validation.

EXFO Inc. (Nasdaq:EXFO) (TSX:EXF) says it has added one-way delay measurement to its portable Ethernet backhaul test offering. The new capabilities complement EXFO's patent-pending bidirectional testing functionalities for IP/Ethernet service validation. EXFO says it now offers the only portable Ethernet backhaul test units to perform true one-way delay measurement, using any of the available reference clocks.

Integrated within EXFO's EtherSAM (ITU-T Y.1564) test methodology and implemented in EXFO’s modular FTB-200 or FTB-500 field-testing platforms, the enriched testing capability accelerates the accurate turn up and troubleshooting of Ethernet backhaul and delay-sensitive applications, EXFO says. Network operators and service providers can perform simultaneous one-way measurements of all key performance indicators (KPIs) included in service-level agreements (SLAs), the company adds.

"Network operators worldwide are increasingly deploying real-time applications that are delay-sensitive, creating the need for more stringent SLAs. In turn, this makes measurements such as one-way delay much more important in ensuring that KPIs are met," said Etienne Gagnon, vice-president of EXFO's Wireline Division and corporate marketing. "EXFO's innovative one-way delay measurement is yet another feature that adds to a portable, simple test solution designed to effectively validate IP/Ethernet network performance and service quality."
