OCTOBER 15, 2008 -- JDSU (search for JDSU) says that Deutsche Telekom has selected the T-BERD/MTS-6000A Multi-Services Application Module to support the delivery of 10 Gigabit Ethernet, SDH, OTN, and Fibre Channel-based networks.

Operators like Deutsche Telekom are deploying 10-Gigabit Ethernet in response to the demand for increased bandwidth services like T-Home and the corresponding strain on networks. Testing high-bandwidth services like IPTV has become a requirement beyond the access network because of the convergence of cost-effective Carrier Ethernet networks and high-bandwidth triple-play services. This convergence is complicated by the development and deployment of a number of new Ethernet technologies, and significant qualification during the design and deployment phase is needed to ensure QoS of business and residential triple-play services.

"We are pleased to win this opportunity to work with Deutsche Telekom and look forward to long-term 10G services support for them with the T-BERD/MTS-6000A," said Jim Nerschook, vice president and general manager in JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement business segment. "Thanks to its multi-function capabilities, the T-BERD/MTS-6000A enables a quick return on capital investment, reduces mean time to repair and simplifies testing -- which reduces operational expenses."

Earlier this year, JDSU announced a separate agreement with Deutsche Telekom to support delivery of its IPTV service using the JDSU NetComplete service assurance system and associated IP test probes.
