DECEMBER 8, 2009 -- EXFO has announced that the newly launched FTB-5240S-P optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) module was exclusively selected by a Tier 1 European operator to support the deployment of a ROADM-based 40G next-generation network in the next three years.

DECEMBER 8, 2009 -- EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. has announced that the newly launched FTB-5240S-P optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) module was exclusively selected by a Tier 1 European operator to support the deployment of a ROADM-based 40G next-generation network in the next three years.

As part of its commitment to use state-of-the-art equipment and follow carrier-class engineering standards, the operator is relying on EXFO's optical testing technologies to ensure its network's performance meets the increasing bandwidth demand of next-generation 40-Gigabit technologies.

With an integrated in-band optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) measurement capability, the FTB-5240S-P next-generation OSA covers all DWDM applications and channel spacings, from 25-GHz DWDM to CWDM. Housed in the FTB-500 portable platform, the FTB-5240S-P can be combined with other modules such as SONET, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel analyzers.

"Above all, we wanted to seamlessly integrate in-band OSNR measurement into our OSA module to make it the most versatile tool possible, both for today's and tomorrow's networks," says Etienne Gagnon, EXFO's vice president of product management and marketing. "Since the FTB-5240S-P is housed in the FTB-500 platform and can be combined with various transport and datacom test modules, users get the most compact and powerful test solution available on the market for next-generation networks."
