JDSU introduces handheld fiber inspection/optical power measurement device

FEBRUARY 10, 2009 -- JDSU (search Lightwave for JDSU) has released the HP3-60 integrated power meter and display system for fiber inspection and testing.
The new JDSU HP3-60 display system combines fiber inspection and optical power measurement into a single handheld device. Integrating these two fundamental optical tools into one handheld device results in a significant increase in workflow efficiency and decrease in total inspection and test time, JDSU asserts.
The HP3-60 system, derived from the company's HD3 series, is designed to provide high-quality image resolution in a compact, portable design. The integrated power meter offers quick, easy, and accurate field measurements of optical power and attenuation, according to JDSU. Push-button operation makes the device simple and straightforward to use, while the inspect-test process procedure establishes optimal workflow practices, the company adds.
A probe and patchcord microscope on the HP3-60 enables users to see the end-face of a fiber-optic connector on a 1.8-inch TFT LCD, while an optical power meter measures the power of an optical signal. The HP3-60 will also work in tandem with the JDSU T-BERD(R)/MTS 4000, 6000, 8000 systems.
